P9200018 P9200034

I prefer to buy curry paste from this stall 'Curry Hj Saad' very popular since 70's until to-day & the 2nd photo 'The traffic Jam'.

The people come as far as Santubong,Simunjan & many more Villages to shop for Hari Raya in the City.Business look good for this hired van operator. The Hari Raya fall on Sunday 20 of Sep 2009.

It's been a while since my last street photography,The last outing was a simple photo coverage of day one at Ramadhan bazaar in Jalan Stutong. This time I decided to try something else.I parked my car at parking lot in padang pasir(field with sand)but I did not see any sand there hehehe....From there I walk from masjid bandar Kuching to Jalan Gambier & India street mall. You know I still prefer to shop here..I'm a man who keep my word" spend wisely during festival".To-day (Friday) the traffic from Satok to Gambier Road was busy and jam all the way..What about to-morrow(Saturday)..don't worry I'm around to cover the story.

Young boy sale Lemang at roadside, do you believe that all the lemang on the table is about Rm300( US$100). Each lemang at price of Rm10(small)Rm12(M) & Large size will cost you Rm15.00.

Camera:Olympus E-620 Zuiko len ED 14-54 f2.8-3.5. set to artfilter pinhole.

P9200030

I was walking from one street vendor to another seeking photo opportunity. The traders especially the young boy are friendly, courteous. Most of them invited me to take pictures.

P9182039

Paying the zakat or tithe is one of the tenets in the Pillar of Islam, where every Muslims are obligated to pay during the month of Ramadhan.

Soon after I snapped the portrait photo..the young boy whispered "I'm in the Utusan Sarawak(local malay edition newspaper) to-morrow".

Well...that all for Friday street shot..It was nice walk .

Daily Photo-LOKAN

P8261640

Every morning Polin 23 years old ,have to walk about 5 kilo meter to the mangrove swamp area looking for massive shell fish that thrived on the muddy river banks call LOKAN. At noon she set up a stall and join the rest of street vendor selling LOKAN along the road.

P8261638 P8261641

The selection of LOKAN cost Rm10.00 for a pile of large size and Rm5.00 for the medium size.

Washing the mud from the LOKAN is quite tedious but the hard work is well worth it.The meat is round like scallops..and little meat only.LOKAN is good if grilled or BBQ.

mwtblack

P6290129 022

This week I thought I would take you on a short walking tour on the street of our Malaysia capital city,KUALA LUMPUR.I found that walking from one place to another place or to subway is not very pedestrian friendly but it was interesting watching the crowd of small groups here and there and some families too.

P6290173 P6290175

P6290177 P6290178 P6290178

Another attraction if you walk in the street of Kuala Lumpur is the presence of graffiti on some walls. There are quite a lot of graffiti in the street of Kuala Lumpur and here are few that I saw (picture above).Maybe it reflect the current social issues in Malaysia.

P6270087 P6300199

What strike the eye is that Kuala Lumpur the street themselve are fairly clean, but many sidewalk and building are damaged and you can see some beautiful colonial building too.

P6260059 P6290166

After few hours of stroll around the street, why not join this guy here for lunch at mamak old restaurant and try Malaysian icon nasi lemak, nasi kandar and teh tarik.

See you again next week on My World Tuesday and to tour other World kindly visit this home page MY WORLD TUESDAY

Street Scene-The Shoes Repairman.

P5020159.ORF P5020156.ORF

Repair & Shine......that's my JOB say the man in the picture.Yesterday 1May,2009 is a public holiday in Malaysia .It's Labour Day.I have my shoes repair & cost me just Rm15.00.I thanks him for job well done.

He repair shoes and also he did shine people shoes. After I took his shot and I asked him What he thinks will be the future of shoes repair. He said, this is one business which is doing well in the current global economic situation.People are realizing that it is more cost efficient to repair shoes than to get new ones.

I say,we will lose a great deal if the shoes repairman vanish.

So what do you think ????.

No wonder peoples say Kuching is unusually pedestrian friendly for a Malaysian City. With tree lined sidewalks , pedestrian crossing and overhead crossing etc.etc. but don't be surprised if you see most pedestrian are not using the bridge to cross.

The city core is compact to cover on foot.

Street Scene-India Street....again.

COM

Just a snap looking at India Street..again and again.(One of the oldest street in Kuching). As you know I generally snap of what ever ideas that come and what to picture, like to show you an ordinary street scene now and then .So this is the India Street Pedestrian Mall.

The street derives its name from the fact that it has always been street occupied by the Indian shop. Most of the Indians are from the southern and northern India. At first it was called as he Kling Street in the 1850's,but the Third White Rajah of Sarawak,Sir Charles Vyner Brooke changed the name to India Street in 1928.In 1992 the street was closed to vehicular traffic and converted into a pedestrian mall.

P3050047

The prawn seller .

P3050048

Not everyday we can see the prawn seller on the street.I am just lucky to meet this guy here and he offer me with good price that is RM 8.00 per kg.

Normally the prawn seller like this can clear his sale in just a few hours. If you go to big super market or wet market the price will not be the same .
