Back to School Shopping.

 P1013746

Malaysian school begin this coming Monday .Parents seem doing last minute back to school shopping & bring their children for shopping for theirs schooling needs.

For parents, back-to-school shopping for the various school supplies that their children need, can be a challenging task. Children invariably want school supplies that are covered in the latest cartoon characters, and parents end up having to a pay a premium for such products. Many parents who finally tire of spending so much money on school supplies eventually have a change in attitude towards shopping for educational supplies – they learn to be thrifty.

One of the best ways to save money is to shop for school supplies is at back-to-school sales. Many stores have sales on school supplies during the week or so before the new school year begins. Many items on your child’s back-to-school supply list will be offered at discounted prices during these sales. You should take the opportunity to stock up on school supplies that you know your child will need more of over the school year such as pens, pencils, paper, and other items.

Urban Squatters in Kuching.

P1013732

Squatting was also common in Kuching  City and many squatting occupied their unauthorized sites for a decade.Their generally located on open government land or on unused private land. The presence of foul odour  and other unpleasant features did not stop me from visiting a 40 years old Encik Ismail  who had lived in squatters for a decade.

Ismail house is built one small step at a time and he say sorry for the interior appearance of his kitchen in a typically ramshackle.

During the Christmas Holiday I decided to have a one day trip to Borneo Highland. The place is about 60 kilo meter from the city and it is about an hour drive using my small compact car .It's a zig zag  and single dual road so I have to drive carefully.I reached Borneo Highland  foothill, however I am not allowed to enter because I did not made an advance booking.I did not know that a day trip to the highland  need an advance booking unless we stay over night for a room booking. The rate for day trip is Rm100 per guest including drink & food.

Street Photo Documentary-Gambier Street on Fire.

Chef on fire

The above photo credit to The Borneo Post .

Last Sunday I saw local newspaper head line "Chef On Fire".The skill from Master Chef Amin has taken cooking shows to a whole new level with his fiery 'Don't Try this at Home' acts.

This morning at 06:30 am December 23,2009. "Shop Houses On Fire".After reading the morning paper I rush to the city to see what is happening ????

A section of the city’s historical heritage went up in smoke last night when a massive fire destroyed seven pre-war shophouses along Gambier Street.Miraculously, there were no reports of any injury in the 8.30pm incident, which continued on until midnight.

I snap the whole story this morning at 08:00am.(see below)

Last night’s incident was the second time that fire has destroyed the historical shop houses along Gambier Street, with four lots going up in smoke last year.

The shophouses, which front the Sarawak River and are located near the Kuching Waterfront, was built about 60 years ago.

Bomba3

Time 08:30 am...No closure of road by the authority & causing traffic congested .I see no traffic police around the scene until 09:30 am.The blaze, which was believed to have started from a textile shop at about 9pm(22/12/2009 Tuesday) razed at least four shophouses by about 11pm.

However, firemen were doing their best and they risked their lives in the line of duty.
