AFF Suzuki Cup 2010.

AFF

Although successful in revenge against Malaysia at home but Indonesia collapsed in all their struggles to win the championship at the Bung Karno  Stadium .Malaysia or better know as Harimau Malaya (Malayan Tiger) are playing in a good formation and spirit to ensure that the AFF Suzuki Cup residing in Malaysia.Although we lost 2-1 to-night in the hand of Indonesia, but we beat them 4-2 on aggregate.Cheers of more than 70 thousand people of Indonesia could not dampen our spirit

Although there is a cynical tone that says that no state football squad will have an easy passage for the healer, shaman, medicine man and the paranormal Indonesia has deployed  at Bung Karno Stadium, but the mental strength of stronger players to deflect all the speculation. Now all the waiting has ended. AFF Cup has become ours. Young people of Malaysia has shown that the country also has a great football talent that can compete with other teams in Southeast Asia.

CONGRATULATION to MALAYSIA..........:)

P7267459 P7267424

My last trip to Batu Ferringhi  was in 1992 ..10 years ago.My second was few weeks ago..Wow !!!! it's change a lot ,I like it.I would say Batu Ferringhi, where some of the most breathtaking beaches in Penang lay.Its balmy and scenic surrounding provided the perfect climate for blissful vacation. For these reasons the tourist foreign and local  flock here, and for that matter,it is also haven for a string of world-class resorts including rows of specialty restaurants and shops.Business is often brisk here especially during Pubic Holiday & weeks end.

This prime of stretch of beach is always a hive of activity .Their facilities include water sport  and windsurfing .

Sarawak Regatta 2010 in Kuching.

P8017758

Opening event.......

The history of Sarawak Regatta.........Basically, The Sarawak Regatta in the Brooke Days is known as a game of peace and passion to unite the warring tribes of Borneo. In those days, Rajah Charles Brooke used to send his yatch "Maimunah" to bring in the various 'Tuan Residents' to join the social event......

P8017773

The family get shades from underneath the trees....

Sarawak Regatta started on the 30th July to 1st August 2010 at Kuching Waterfront. I just spent half day watching the events (last day Sunday) ignoring the heat from the very hot sun. No doubt along the waterfront you can get shades from underneath the trees but at times really had to go infront to get a clearer view.

P8017834

Sarawak River.....

The Sarawak Regatta, to be held from July 30 with local and foreign participants, would directly promote racial harmony, greater understanding of cultural diversity and promote the tourism industry.

P8017837

Will this team LANDAS grab the title "King of the River"...........

This has made the races more exciting. Participating teams have done their preparations earlier than usual and are well prepared. This can be seen in their determination to grab the coveted ‘King of the River’ title in the various categories.

Revisited Sibu -Rejang Regatta.

Rejang River Regatta: Kenyalang boat race is back

SIBU: After a lapse of 20 years, the Kenyalang boat race will be revived at the upcoming Rejang River Regatta on March 13 and 14 at the confluence of the Rejang and Igan rivers.

The race was last held here in 1990.

Each of the racing boats has the capacity for 20 people – 18 paddlers, one navigator and a drummer – and is distinctively decorated with a kenyalang (hornbill in Iban) head at the front.

Ten boats costing RM30,000 each are being built for the event expected to attract 200 participants from Sarawak and possibly Indonesia as well.

The two-day event will also see power boat races in five categories with 35 teams expected from Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei.

The regatta is jointly organised by Rajang Port Authority and MC Events Management to promote Sibu as a centre for water sports in Sarawak. The organisers hope to hold the event annually.

“I hope it will elevate Sibu into a centre for water sports as envisaged by Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud,” said Sarawak Second Finance Minister and Minister of Environment and Public Health Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.

*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

I have a chance to witness the regatta on the second day .At first the weather was cloudy in the morning and soon after that it was hot and humid .Not to mention the crowd its was as early as 07:00 am they already try to look for a better view for the event that only started at 10:00 am. Perhaps the venue Sibu waterfront phase two was not suitable for the water sport and my observation was that the crowd was not only from Sibu town and many are from small town like Kapit,Kanowit ,Igan and Dalat. Not to mention some are villagers from small fishing village along Igan and Rajang river and even some are from as far as Brunei and Sabah.

I can't even find the suitable position to photograph the event, further more in the afternoon its was heavy rain at 01:30pm that last until 04:00pm.

So below some of the photograph that I manage to shoot (point & shoot version).

Anyway let's the pictures tell the story.

P3144636

I position myself quite far from the big crowds . P3144631 P3144644

The big crowds here only manage to see the starting point of the power boat event.

P3144660P3144633

What choice do they have?.standing at the bush or at the crowded water front.

P3144649 P3144659

Look at the big crowds ..they cannot see the event ,they only hear the blasting sound of the power boat and the commentator of the event.

P3144667 P3144661

Its seem that they don't mind about the muddy place as long as they have fun............

P3144675 P3144676

and perhaps this is not fun....so Safety First.

P3154698

If Sibu wish to become a centre for water sports I hope the next event must be a crowds friendly venue.

P3154699

See you next year and hoping very much for the best.

The Kota Samarahan (My district) sky turned black when a factory with over 20,000 recycled tyres burning beyond control since early morning right until afternoon.

The factory at Tanjung Bundung Industry caught fire.

The Fire and Rescue services department from Samarahan sent 16 personnel rushed to the scene but was unable to put out the fire..

Two fire-engines from Tabuan Laru and Padungan were dispatch at 6am but the fire continue to rage and showing no sign of being under control.

Acting Samarahan police chief, ASP Abu Bakar Mokhtar said the owner had lodged a police report and believed it could be arson.

“We dont want to accuse anyone yet but the firemen and police are doing investigation now,” he said.

Abu Bakar said the tyres were bought from mechanics and companies which could not longer rethread them. It was for fisheries to do artificial reef.

Meanwhile, the quality of air in Samarahan was blackened and the sun turned into a red ball.

Open burning due to land-clearing for agriculture and peat fire hotspots are responsible for this hazy condition. Hotspots have been spotted in Malaysia, Sumat

P8051265

I am not proud of it but the haze is back in Malaysia. This time of the year normally sees us experiencing hazy skies, hot dry weather and high humidity. Malaysians may have to put up with this condition right up to September. Below is a picture of the Petronas Twin Towers shrouded in the haze - photo courtesy of The Star.

Below is a picture of TwinTower KL taken by me during my recent trip to the City (25.07.2009).

So watch out our Health..Stay home and do less outdoor activities .
