Strictly Malaysian-Balik Kampung.

P7267414

Loosely translated, "balik kampung" means to go back to one's hometown. However, it is most applicable when used to describe the annual pilgrimage of city folk to their respective hometowns during festive seasons.

It's not uncommon to find cities like Kuala Lumpur turning into ghost towns during Hari Raya Puasa and Chinese New Year due to this yearly exodus. This feeling of desolation in cities is magnified when festivals fall close together, such as Kongsi Raya (Hari Raya Puasa and Chinese New Year) although this happens only occasionally.

City of People-Balik Kampung .

Does self drive to kampung please see the above massage.

The express boat terminal @ Kuching.Express boat is one of the popular transportation in Sarawak.
Kuching bus terminal and perhap this coming week end will be crowded.

In Malaysia, those who celebrate Hari Raya living in towns usually go back to their home town or kampung to celebrate Aidil Fitri. This migration from big urban cities to rural areas is known as "Balik Kampung".In Kuching Sarawak this balik kampung phenomenon is not as busy as that happen in Semananjung Malaysia as mood of transport have many choices like Sea,Air and most common is by road.
Balik Kampung it is always the joys when celebrating the Hari Raya together with parents and siblings.

Pedestrian Crossing Bridge vs Jay-Walking.

As usual I went to Satok sunday market.Being the jay walkers myself I took a shoot on the above subject.
People using the pedestrian crossing bridge to cross the street is very common sight in most cities. In Kuching(picture above)many people prefer to jay-walk to cross the street and one of the reason is that because our street here is very narrow.

Sarawak Trailer and Lorry Drivers.

But yesterday, Syadiq, the second of three sons, was killed instantly after a trailer ran over him and crushed his skull.

It's was made to understand that earlier, after sitting for an SPM paper, he was overheard as saying he was looking forward to the final paper today and that he was on his way to Demak Laut in search of a job.
It is understood that he was heading to a factory in Bintawa when a trailer truck rammed into the back of his motorcycle around 10.30am.
Syadiq, who was thrown onto the road, was run over and dragged some 20 metres by the trailer before it came to a halt.
Police arrived soon after and began the process of collecting pieces of the victim’s skull and brain from the road and from one of the trailer’s tyres before covering the body with old newspaper as a large crowd gathered to watch.
The mother and elder brother of the victim arrived later at the scene and confirmed his identity.
Both, however, were in an extreme state of shock and were unable to speak.
On several occasions the mother was on the verge of fainting.
Police arrested the driver of the trailer along with his attendant immediately after the incident and have detained the two men pending further investigation.

The above statement quoted from the borneo post today .
My Deepest Sympathies and Condolences to the Family of Allahyarham Mohamad Syadiq Abdul Halim on their bereavement.

While I was driving along the Jalan Bako from my house to Custom Complex these are interesting sights to see,I would say these are all trailers, truck and Cargo Lorries drivers,Rules are made to be broken.
*Driving to fast on the slow lane and driving over speed limit on fast lane.
*Park their truck, trailers and lorry in the middle of the road or at NO paring zone.
*Parking their huge trailers by roadside and drive at speed of more than 90Kph with overloaded cargo.
This type of accident which could have had tragic consequences is why we need to make sure that there are regulations in place to safeguard the cars, motorcyclist on the road from this F1 truck drivers. When truck, trailers and cargo lorries are involved in accidents the frequency of deaths and severity of injuries increase substantially.Causes of trucking accidents include driver intoxication, brake failure, reckles driving, overloaded trucks, oversize trucks and driver inexperience.
