Kampung/Kampong is Village in Malay.

Typical Malay Kampung namely Kampung Boyan,Kampung Gersik & Kampung Sourabaya Ulu is easily reached from Kuching City by crossing the Sarawak River using Perahu Tambang(River Taxi).

i like the colors and the traditional architecture. the names sound like the name of Indonesian cities of Surabaya and Gresik (both in East Java). could it be that their predescessors are from Java hundreds of years ago (perhaps in the Majapahit era?)

These are nice kampung houses which has been brightly painted too. They are slowly disappearing from the city landscape.
