Before & After of Gambier Street-Kuching.

The demolishing of the market along the Gambier Street Kuching.
This morning I went to gambier street to buy some goodies etc.etc and not at all suprising me because the demolishing notice is every coner of the wet market since 3 months ago and notice of allocating to new ,large building, hygenic and ample parking space to the trader, hawkers have been going on since last year .

All trading activities at the street will cease affective 15 JUNE 2008.The move to relocate the hawkers is taken by the government in order to facilitate the development in the area and the same time for convenience of the hawkers.
STA legancy walk by the Sarawak Tourism Board(photo today 17JUN08)but they going todemolosh it.
1929 building will be demolish soon.
The wet market.Gambier street was overcrowded and had caused a number of problem like pollution of the Sarawak River.
The Notice.
The electric meter since 1957 .
empty fish market.
This is where I use to have my breakfast of Rojak Ayam and this place also very popular among pensioner, senior citizen,Tuan Haji's have a good morning LEPAK session after Suboh Prayer.

To be demolished? That structure still looks strong from your picture; some of them rather historic. Sayangnya nak kena roboh... IMHO refurbishment will serve the place better lah uncle. What will be erected to replace the building later uncle?

Sdr Awang,
Terima kasih.

Assalamualaikum Uncle Awang

Your effort capturing all the our heritage not going to waste. Thats the problem with our planner and politician. They are not developing but demolishing. What a poor of them. They should be brainwashed at here how to preserves our heritage. They never learn. They always forgetful. The Central Market in KL was a good example can be turned to another tourist attraction and became Pasar Seni. Mereka ni pendek akal dah tu mudah lupa.......
