SIBU Town LandMark-SWAN.

In order to promote itself to tourists and for branding purpose, Sibu Municipal Council under the former Chairmanship of Datuk Robert Lau, adopted swan as the symbol of Sibu town. According to the Sibu Chinese community, when the early immigrants arrived in Sibu in the mid 19th century and early 20th century, the present Rajang River reminded them of Swan River in Fuzhou, China. However, due to the fact that such a bird is non-existent in the town (except for the numerous huge artificial swan statues) or anywhere in Malaysia, the majority of the Sibu community, especially the natives, feel that such a choice is too artificial and does not invoke any special or deep feeling toward the so-called “Symbol of Sibu”.

One things I liked about Sibu is that people just can park the car at yellow line.Well, no big deal here, this is a Traffic Police business .

One more thing why Sibu is such a nice town is that all the areas are located within close proximity of one another, making walking from one place to another a possibility.Just park your car and than walk and don't be afraid of heavy traffic they won't knock you down haha!!! that Sibu jay walkers style..simply crossing the road .Most street in the middle of the town is one way so planing your destination ahead is important to avoid stuck in the heavy slow traffic(bumper to bumper).

Lost in The City of Life.

PB300019

To-day is Christmas holiday but not this man..he is cool.

I was walking behind this man and for some reason he turned.I chose this picture because of what and about how this picture was taken. It was luck and just coincidence. But the fact is that this unknown person was captured while other have a wonderful holiday and enjoy the Christmas and he is a lonely jay-walker.

Who is he? What is he telling me? Why did he turn around?.

I find this shot irresistible,it describes, maybe the concerns of a man about his life and the direction he is taking.

City Daily Photo-Street Scene.

As I walk thru Gambier Street I notice a crowds at one of the garment store. It's was clearance sale.Ever wonder how many types of "Clearance Sale" are there??

OK let me guess, holiday clearance sale, stock clearance sale,Christmas,Chinese New Year and Hari Raya clearace sale,Year end clearance sale etc.etc.

I wonder what happened to this sale and what sale is this(photo below).

This one is really serious perhap I call this Serious Clearance Sale. The boss is seriously wanted to clear all the stock not because of Christmas this is because his store was on fire (08/11/2008) .So this is real 85% off.

This is street scene and happening at Gambier Street,Kuching.

My World Tuesday-Spirit of Entrepreneurship.e

To view or to join My World please visit the homepage by click HERE -Thank You.
This week I am going to guide you to Pasar Sarikin that is about 45 minutes drive from the City.
This is border market of Malaysia(Sarawak) and Indonesia (Kalimantan Barat).Open only Saturday and Sunday.
This is one of many traders that caught my eye.He come from Kalimatan Barat,Indonesia and open his stall as early as 07:00am at pasar Sarikin the border market. Now he is demostrate his menchandise to me ..very creative indeed.
Soft toy such as Teddy Bear is cheap here and just look at the photo above the seller are waiting for his customer to load the menchandise into the car .
Another item that really caught my eyes is Sandal made from the horse skin. You can't get this item in Kuching City .
To be a customer at this pasar Sarikin you must have a bargaining skill .
This gemstone seller have many legendary story to tale.He have been selling the gemstone for many years."I sale original menchandise and that is why customer always come back to me and only expert can sale this many type of gemstone"he say.
Varietis of crispy chip such as bananna chip are widely sold .Well, its worth trying better than that sell in hypermarket.
Mood of transport (photo above)this is common scenario here. With just few Ringgit from your pocket they are so happy to transport your things to your car as parking lot is quite a distance from the stalls.
This place is worth to visit and you don't have to spend much as the goods here is much, much cheaper than in the city or you can't even found the goods that sold here in the city.

Street Photography-Moment of Truth.

Is it dangerous to shot street photography?
Let's me answer the question......NO Photography is not dangerous but it is a social activity and one needs to develop the social skills that are involved in the practice.
It is useful to have a good answer ready when people ask Why you are taking photographs and carrying example of your photos is worthwhile.I also plan to carry a lots of stripes of papers with the web address of my photoblog from that project which I hand out to whenever I can .
As I live in Kuching,Sarawak. In here street photography is quite pleasant, people are no aggressive and tend to smile if they catch you stealing a shot .
