Few days ago I went out for photo shoot some where at Carpenter Street and Jalan Bishopsgate, the oldest street in Kuching.I saw an arrow to 'BISHOPGATE' and no one know the history behind the name 'bishopgate'.When I go to the direction where the arrow pointed ,I did not notice any gate and what i see is just a few street vendors selling noodle. The vendors look unfriendly when they saw me with camera so it is better not to ask them the story behind the name Bishopgate.
I follow the arrow...to BISHOPGATE.
I saw skillful old craftsman in his daily work.
One of the oldest street in Kuching City "Jalan Bishopsgate" and just a few minutes away from this street you can find a few good B & B Hotels in Carpenter Street.

That road looks old, looking at the building. But nevertheless good place to snap a picture or two...or hundreds of pictures hehehe :D
Beautiful photos, even if you did not learn about Bishopgate.
Very lovely photos of streets. I guess you wont find any youngsters taking this kind of job anymore.
there's usually a story about street names like that:) but you were right in not pursuing it considering the vendors seemed to be hostile. Nice photos!

I love the last picture! It looks like a movie set :)
I wonder where the name came from. We have a Bishopsgate somewhere in the UK.Interesting. Had to monochrome again for that timeless feel.

A real old look, in black and white, the road is so narrow. Interesting name for the street.
What a fascinating set of pictures. I love it!
