Malaysia-China FriendShip Park@Kuching

Taman Sahabat or Friendship Park between Malaysia and China.
Malaysia and China relations go back many centuries, stretching back to the time of the Malaccan Sultanate in the 15th century.By histrorical accounts Parameswara was the first Malaccan Sultan to have traveled to China and to have had an audience with the Chinese Emperor. The Royal marriage of Hang Li Po,a Chinese Princess to Sultan Mansor Shah of Malacca further connected relation,as did the peaceful visit of Admiral Zheng He toMalacca.
So if you can't get your budget airline ticket to China on this coming Chinese New Year holiday..you still have a choice just go to Taman Sahabat @ Kuching.

Malaysian & Chinese jogging track......

You are still in Malaysia now....look at the welcome enterance.............

You will find many other Cinese pavilions awaiting for you at the park, these pavilions are designed by China mainland architects, give you the exact feel when you are in China.

Here I will introduce the park @ Kuching .It is called "Taman Sahabat" with Admiral Zheng He as the theme.Sahabat in malay mean friend and this symbolize the friendship between Malaysia and China throughout the historical ages.

ADMIRAL ZHENG HE.

POLITICIAN VIEW ON TAMAN SAHABAT'S PAVILIONS .
Taman Sahabat project situated at Jalan Song Kuching was completed in 2005 and officially opened to public on 18.5.2006 by Yb Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. This unique and picturesque park is the product of a close relationship between Kuching City and Kunming City of China. Due to its unique features, it is gaining popularity for the locals as well as tourists.
There are a few facilities in the parks including pavilions are given to the Council as gifts by the various Chinese agencies including Kunming Municipal Government, as symbols of friendship between China and Malaysia, between Kunming and Kuching. It is a pride and joy to the residents in MBKS for such contribution in this park.
These pavilions were designed, fabricated and constructed and supervised by the Chinese Landscape technicians and artisans. They used timber which, in China, have lasted hundreds of years. Unfortunately they were very susceptible to our weather and humidity. Such problem was deliberated in-depth and suggested to refer to the donor.
In this regard, the Council has drawn the attention of the donor who produced these beautiful structures and appealed for their rectification in July 2007. We are very grateful that the Chinese Consul General has taken a very active concern on the matter and we hope things can be resolved soon.
However, the Council noted with regret the statements and sentiment issued by YB Chong Chieng Jen and Violet Yong in the recent Press questioning the MBKS authority that if the deterioration of pavilion columns were built according to specification. Making such a wrong assumptions and also the criticism of using sub-standard quality wood in the press is a very unhealthy practice and it is very disheartening to the excellent effort put in by the many Chinese agencies in supporting the success of this Park. In order to avoid similar recurrence, the Council would urge the two YBs' to find out the fact correctly in future before calling the press to make a press issue against any authority.

Uncle Awang,
ey, Kuching have that now? When I was there in 2004 (my first time there, I wonder when will be the second), well, all I did was roam around the city, hanging out at water front, something like that. If this beautiful place was already there by the time I was there, I am pretty sure I'll enjoy the view and the landscape.

uncleawang, thanks for sharing with us that mystic scenes of Kuching. Before all these new developments, to me Kuching by itself is already an exotic city with its kind of charm.

As I had said before my three and a half years in Sarawak is the best part of my career. Kuching is a city of contrast with many cultural elements blended together in harmony.

How I wish that some of those buildings be reconstruct in Putra Jaya. It would sure add to the uniqueness of our capital city.

Do keep on posting such scenes and believe me it do made my day. Thanks again and have a nice day.
