Teacher's Day is the perfect opportunity for the students around the world, to pay tribute to their teachers. Although the festival is celebrated in different countries of the world, it doesn't fall on the same day. In some countries, Teacher's Day is celebrated on working days. On the other hand, in other countries, it is the day is declared as a holiday. The day is observed with fun and fervor in educational institutions, predominantly schools.
May 16 is dedicated to teachers, in Malaysia. The day is celebrated as Teacher's Day in the country, with great enthusiasm. The day is called 'Hari Guru' in Malaysia and is a working day.
The date 16th of May has been chosen as Teachers’ Day because it was during this date in 1956 that the Federal Legislative Council gave its approval for the proposals in the Education Committee Report to be endorsed as the national education policy of this country. The document is also known as the Razak Report and has since been the National Education Policy.
Besides the society thanking the teachers for their contribution on Teachers Day, the government may announce some incentives for the teachers during this special day.
This year, the 2011 Teacher’s Day Festival concept will be 1Education 1Malaysia. It will be held in conjunction with the National Teacher’s Day Celebration from May 13 to May 16 in Kuching Waterfront, Sarawak.
I have a song dedicated to all the Teachers out there..Happy Teachers Day.
