Firefly has launched its inaugural flight from its new southern Malaysian hub at Johor Bahru's Senai International Airport.(19th May 2001) The Malaysian low-cost carrier will serve the Johor-Kuching route twice a day with services departing Johor at 7.30am and 6.35pm. The return flights leave Kuching at 9.55am and 8.30pm.
The Johor Bahru-Kuching flight marks Firefly’s first ever route from its new southern hub. From 16 June 2011, the carrier will expand operations at Johor with the launch of twice daily return flights to Kota Kinabalu. Both these routes will operate using the airline's new 162-seat Boeing 737-400

Welcoming Firefly's inaugural flight to Kuching , Sarawak Tourism Board's CEO, Rashid Khan said; “I am pleased to welcome passengers from Johor Bahru to Kuching. At the same time, I also look forward to travel with Sarawakians to Johor Bahru on Firefly’s return flight to celebrate Firefly becoming a Johorian today. This is truly the spirit of Malaysia.”

Hopefully Firefly will convert all of it's flight to a jet and use only it's turboprop for Subang. If Firefly can provide competitive low fare, it should be able to attract many fliers.
