Another Kuching heritage Brooke Dockyard soon to be demolished, the plot will be replaced by the new Waterfront Hotel-Said the people.
It almost seems ironic that Brooke Dockyard was formed in the same year as the Titanic sunk, may be an earlier realisation on the Importance of having repair facilities for the white Rajah’s boats.
Records stated that Brooke Dockyard was planned in 1907 at about the same time as the Railway. Excavations commenced in 1907 but was brought to a halt in 1909 when the contractor absconded. Work was finally completed in 1912 and the Dock Declared open by the Ranee Muda on 31st May 1912.
Here is the drawing of new development extend until The Brooke Yard.

I think the composition of the top shot is very good. It will be interesting to see the changes.Keep us up to date.
Really lie the perspective in the top shot.
Very interesting. I like the first picture, very atmospheric!
This must be a really old building.
I wonder if the development will last as long . . . must be kind of sad for the people who worked there.
as much as i like the old brookyard, i also enjoy progress. i just hope that they retain a part of the old brookyard for historical sake.
the gravity of the situation is accentuated in b&w..
