Orangutans are a species of great ape found only in South East Asia on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra, although evidence of their existence has been found in Java, Vietnam and China. The gentle red ape demonstrates significant intelligence, with an ability to reason and think and is one of our closest relatives, sharing 97% of the same DNA as humans. Indigenous peoples of Indonesia and Malaysia call this ape “Orang Hutan” literally translating into English as “People of the Forest”.
In Kuching Sarawak, Orang Utan's who had been orphaned or rescued from captivity was trained by the forest wardens of rehabilitation centre how to survive in the wild.They spent most of their time roaming the forest but frequenty come back to the centre for meal.If it is a fruiting season in the forest some Orang Utans even all of them may not come back to feed because fruits is the only meal for Orang Utans.
This in itsself is a good sign another step on the way of full rehabilition.The forest here is protected and no hunting of animals allowed.

Excellent 'O' - I believe 'Old man of the Forest' is another name they have. They are so endangered. WWF needs to stop havering about 'global warming' and get back to the work it should be doing.

It's good to see that there are places like this which protect the orang utans. They are fascinating creatures - always very sad to see one in a zoo.
