Stutong Market Kuching.

Still remember my posting about the Gambier Street in city center which will be demolise and most traders or Kuching people are not please with the council to relocate a histrocal and yet strategic market in the city center. The future look of gambier street.
The traders are now allocated to the new and clean wet or dry market.
The new market -Stutong Community Market.

Well, at least the marketeers were taken care of, although I guess it would also be good if the place is preserved.

An improvement can be good but sometimes the ambience wont be the same anymore. If it results in an increase in price people may not patronise the new place. Business will be bad for the traders.

uncleawang, thanks for the images of the Stutong Market place.

I use to frequent it when I was working in Sarawak from 1986 to 1989. It is a sort of a rakyaat fair and it should stay that way. But in the name of progress they have construct a new building. Could they maintain it, I wonder!!.

Have a nice day.

Pak Idrus,
Thanks for viewing.Kuching being capital of Sarawak I can see that commercial building(Mall or Hotel),housing estate being built everywhere within the city. When new commercial centre open the old will be slowly empty due to customers started to go to new places.
