RAYA GIFTS.

NO RAYA GIFTS,ACA REMIND GOVT SERVANTS:

Quoted (The Borneo Post Oct 3rd 2007 WED)

If allowed it could create opportunity to commit graft: Agency

Kuala Lumpur: The Anti Corruption Agency (ACA) yesterday urged civil servant to view as serious the practice of giving and accepting gifts especially during the festive season.

If allowed amongs the civil servants without controls,it could create room and opportunities for the commission of graft when such gifts became a must and involved official business,it said in a statement.

The public unsure about such gifts can contact the ACA's Gift Offer/Acceptance Advice Service Centre by phone or SMS at 019-6000103 or 019-6000104.The service centre is run by the Inspection and Consultation Division of the ACA headquarters in Putrajaya.

Queries on the matter can also be made through the ACA's website at

The ACA alsom reminded all CIVIL SERVANTs that under section 165 of the panel code and section 11(a)of Anti-Corruption Act 1997a public or private sector officer was not allowed to receive gifts from those who intended to obtain something in return involving his duties and powers.

A public servant offered a bribe, including gift, was required to report it immediately according to Section 17 of the Anti-Corruption Act 1997 and failing which,he would liable to a maximum fine of RM100,000 or 10 years jail or both if convicted.

Those asked to give or received bribes must also report it to an ACA or police officer. If not, they too could be fine not more than RM10,000 or two years' jail or both.

Guidelines for the civil servants on giving and accepting gifts can be read in Sevice Circular No.3 1998.

The circular explains that in a situation where it is difficult for an officer to refuse sa gift or valuable souvenir,he can accept it but he must submit a written report to his department head immediately to get his consent.-Bernama

I have a question here :You are given $1,000,000 to donate anonymously to charity or to stranger. How would you dispose it?

Lack of HONESTY is not only amongst the lower rung of society, such us during fomer days when those who were involved were only constables.officeboys, clerks who comitted breach of tust by taking CORRUPT.To-day so much changes thse involved were BIG FISH.

So think deeply I am talking about those celebrating Hari Raya .Who else if not majority Malays.....are we consider as currupt society .I can see that NO RAYA GIFTS this reminder will be publish every year before Raya but not on other celebration.
