Greatest Ramadhan Bazaar.

Indian Muslim Mosque in Kuala Lumpur
Jalan Masjid India (or Indian Mosque Street in English) is one of the oldest streets in the city, named after the Masjid India mosque beside the street. The mosque is about 140 years old, built in 1870 for the Indian Muslim population that originally lived there.
Ramadhan Bazaar @ Masjid India Street Kuala Lumpur.
Jalan Masjid India has a reputation of being a shopping haven since a century ago and is still going strong today. The official site at jalanmasjidindia.com describes it as a shopping paradise for locals and foreigners alike and it is well known for both wholesale and retail shopping and famous among locals as well as foreigners for shopping, food and discovering the real Malaysia.
locals as well as foreigners for shopping,
Despite being busy during normal times, the street really comes to life during the Ramadhan (Islamic month of fasting) season, where it will play host to an exciting and happening Ramadan Bazaar every year.
Police and Local City Hall Officers monitor the traffic @ Ramadhan Bazaar.

An innumerable number of traders (mainly selling food to cater to the fasting Muslims) will set up their stalls on the street. Together, they turn Jalan Masjid India into one of the biggest and most colourfull Ramadan Bazaar in Malaysia-stretching all the way from the Masjid India Mosque till the end of the street or in every back lane of the street.

Other than food, visitors can easily find Hari Raya-related goods such as textiles, clothes,  Raya decoration and cake/cookies in the bazaar, aimed at those celebrating Hari Raya  which happens at the end of the Ramadhan fasting period 31 August 2011.

Leica Flagship Store in Kuala Lumpur.

I visited the Leica shop at the Avenue K lifestyle mall in Kuala Lumpur. They had a  M2 on display and the titanium M9. Stock is no more impressive than local shops. I expected to see a full line of lenses, but was disappointed. The M9 was around 32,000 MYR,(Malaysia Ringgit) so no price break. So this is the KL version.
The store space is designed to suit the lifestyle of Malaysian who like to be in a relaxing environment .It is also a space for Leica  enthusiasts to get together and engage in friendly chats while sharing images, techniques and insights as user of the brand.

Law of Street Photography in Malaysia..

Is there any law of street photography in Malaysia.
Legal implications: Can a person who doesn’t want to be photographed take action if he has been secretly shot and the pictures circulated?

Libellous photos

ARTICLES OF LAW
By BHAG SINGH

A publisher may end up on the wrong side of the law when a photograph causes embarrassment or affects the reputation of a subject.
IT MAY not cross the minds of today’s younger generation that having a photograph taken used to be a complex affair. In earlier times, one needed to go to a photo studio to get one’s picture taken. A measure of skill was needed on the photographer’s part.
However, the ease with which pictures can be taken today poses another set of problems. Some people may not like their pictures to be taken. Others may not object to having their pictures taken, but they may not want their pictures to be circulated.
When this happens, can a person who has been photographed take action against the photographer or anyone else who circulates the said pictures?

Why are Leica Cameras So Expensive.

The world’s smallest full frame digital camera. This 18 megapixels camera continues the legacy of the Leica M rangefinder with the most modern digital technology. Smallest full frame digital camera in the world; first Rangefinder camera with a 24 x 36mm format sensor 18-megapixel sensor allows the full 35mm format; custom-designed CCD sensor for optimal performance Newly-developed cover glass to eliminate infrared light contamination, i.e. no IR filters needed Simple Menus and easy handling
Leica M9 18MP Digital Range Finder Camera
I am some what new to photography. When I saw how different the prices were between leica and any other brand I was surprised. What makes these cameras soo expensive?.. even the rangefinder ones?
Leica also costs more because the manufacturing is mainly done in Germany and Canada- Socialist countries where labor costs are rather high. And when practically every piece of a camera is finished and fitted by hand, labor costs matter.
How Much ? perhaps US$ 8000.
"What makes these cameras soo expensive?.. even the rangefinder ones?"
I think the Leica SLRs are expensive because of the rangefinder models! The latter are quiet, precise and reliable under the most adverse circumstances. The first camera at the summit of Mt. Everest was a Leica, I recall. The manual rewind knob was in place for years after cranks became fashionable, because you were less likely to create static marks or break film under sub-zero conditions. Because it is so small, quiet and non-threatening, it is the ultimate tool for taking pictures of people being themselves.
You are paying for quality, legend and an unsurpassed marque, but not necessarily in that order.
Hey I think everyone missed one big factor 'Why are Leica Cameras so expensive'.
There are so many Leica collectors vs the number of Leica users that the prices are now artificially high for used cameras, and as a result Leica can charge even more for the new cameras because the used prices are so high.
When you buy a Leica you buy two things, prestige and quality. However, I believe the price of a Leica is more in the prestige than the quality. Their is a guy I know with the a M6, and I must admit the lenses are fantastic. Much to his dismay, they are hardly much better than my XX lenses. Leica lenses are hardly much better to justify a 200% price premium XXx lenses, and the decreasing advantage their optics have over "Inferior" mass produced optics is almost nil now.
My Malaysia Ringgit  is worth less today than ever before. I can't sell my Olympus and expect to get my money back in the near future. I like my E-620 but if anyone out there interest to purchase  Leica Cameras you can log on to this website Amazon.

DSLR vs Mirrorless Camera.

If you're considering buying a mirrorless digital SLR, then you might have already looked at some "normal DSLR too.
Latest mirrorless digital SLR from Olympus

Usually I do not bother much to comment on mirrorless digital SLR. After all, they are usually slight improvements of well-known design concepts. And I maintain the opinion that you don’t make great pictures just because you happen to have the latest and greatest camera. No, you make those fantastic shots by learning how to use a camera - just like you don’t become a race car driver until you actually learn how to drive.
However, I am making an exception to the rule here since OLYMPUS (a camera brand I am usually very enthused about) is the first, come out with a revolutionary new design concept: a digital Single Lens Reflex camera without a mirror!.The mirror has been an integral part of every advanced camera design for many decades. It enables you to see exactly what the camera “sees” through the lens, regardless of which lens and which setting you are using. The mirror reflects the light from the camera lens up to the viewfinder, where you can evaluate the scene before pressing the shutter. At that instant, the mirror swings up so that the light can now fall on the image sensor, where the picture is recorded. The next instant, the mirror swings back again.
This design has the disadvantage that it makes the camera body of an SLR a bit bulky and heavy. There have been several attempts at solving this problem, but none has been really successful.
Panasonic Lumix G1 (Mirrorless)
Here is a graphic by Panasonic, explaining the difference "one image is worth 1000 words" (photo above).
Well....In the end, the differences between these two different types of cameras are quite minimal. However, it's worth being aware of some of the key advantages of each camera type before you plunk down your hard-earned cash.

Olympus latest compact, the XZ-1.

The Olympus Compact.THE XZ-1.
No ISO Auto limit selection, Max Auto limit is ISO 250.You need to charge the batt with the camera. Almost the same with LX3, XZ-1 looks sharper though will make further test surprisingly it is very easy, easier when I bought my LX3 few month ago.

It is worth considering the XZ-1. Its lens is a monster! There is none in the market right now to beat 112mm with largest f1.8 aperture lens on a compact camera.Am told that Olympus used to produce class leading compacts many years ago but have hardly forged a reputation for such compact cameras of late. The ZX1 therefore represents their renewed entry into the highly competitive world of the high end compact camera. The ZX1 will have to do battle against rivals in the form of the excellent Panasonic LX5, Canon’s proficient S95, Samsungs well received EX1.Well, you can always refer to http://www.olympusimage.com.my/products/compact/ I mean if you are interested to get one.

The build quality of Olympus XZ-1 is wonderful, nice and solid yet not heavy at all, and it’s a camera you can carry all day long without feeling tired. In the past, point and shoot cameras where nothing but a joke, fancy on the outside but when it came to delivering quality images it always fell behind traditional DSLR cameras. Well that’s all changed now with these new generation point and shoot cameras. With outstanding quality lens and excellent in-camera software, a photographer is limited only by their imagination.
