Photographing Flower.

Flowers are so cliche when it comes to photography… but that doesn’t stop me from shooting them! Heck, some photographers even specialize in flower photography and they do a darn good job of it. If you’re getting bored(like my shoot below) with your current bag-o-tricks for photographing flowers, go and look for some amazing tips from the WEBsite.

All above flowers are from my own small garden and shot with my Olympus E-620 .

When come to flower shooting I get out early and late when the light is softer and nicer.Sometime you will see a wonderful flower image midday but I like early morning .Another great time for flower hunt is right after rainstorm ! There's nothing like mist and water droplets to bring some of the image alive.

Texture.

When I stopped taking photographs, things got crazy. Let talk about Texture in photographing ,texture lends a dimensional quality to photos. Looking for examples of texture within a picture? In my photo below  you'll find rattan chair pictures, pictures of roof, and other texture photographs.

I always remember this word from my photographer mentor or shall I call him SIFU.......

If you feel disappointed for not being able to take any worthy picture after one day of looking around for your ‘decisive moment’ or chasing ‘the magic hour’ while lugging your cumbersome camera on your shoulder and you really feel like packing up your gear, don’t give up yet.

My Assignment to Padang Besar.

Mall

While waiting for train at KL Sentral during my assignment to Padang Besar ,Perlis.I had a chance to play around a little bit with a couple of the E-620's built-in art filters.

The art filters and a fun, quick way to create a special effect you can see at once, and it gives you something else to think about. I find myself looking for subjects that would benefit from my  favourites, the pop art effects.

Mall-2

My Olympus E-620 is approx. 550g (with battery & Lens 14-54mm f2.8).Very comfortable to carry when travelling. Now look at the photo above ,my friend  here didn't know that he was my subject.I can change the angle of the LCD monitor on the camera. This enable you to shoot at an awkward angle while checking the subject's composition on the LCD monitor ( Can be rotate at within the moveable range).

Mall-3

My arrival after long 12 hours on the train.

Mall-1

The landmark of Padang Besar,Perlis.

Mall-4 Mall-5

I bought myself a Crocs sandal, adventure or jungle boot and backpack.Don't ask me the price.Well ,after all it's just a imitation branded item that your bargaining skill must have with the Thailand vendors in Padang Besar .

Now, do you know that my art filter will appeal to lomographers a lot and those who are not really photoshop-savvy like myself.

Art with my Olympus DSLR.

P3315055

Here are some shot taken this afternoon in the city.I wanted to practice food shots but most of the food shop already at rest after lunch.

P3315052-1

This Kuching City high rises has pretty interesting architecture if you get a chance to shoot along the streets.I tried using monotone, sepia direct from my camera.

P3315056

Some people may argue that you can mimic those effects(Monotone/Sepia B&W) on some photo editing software.

P3315057

That is true but the advantage of doing this in camera is that it applies the effects in relation to the current exposure, making it more real and natural.

P3315059

This is the effect from the art filter (Grainy film B&W filter) direct from my camera.

All the above photos are snap using my Olympus E-620 with Zuiko ED lens 14-54 f2.8-f3.5.

Hobby-Bonsai Plants.

Bonsai is a good rewarding hobby but mind you, they are pretty expensive to buy and time consuming to keep. You can even turn your expertise eventually into business and a potentially profitable one too, but not in Kuching,Sarawak as you can easily look for ready plants been minaturization (ready bonsai plants) from China and at affordable prices. The bonsai plants vendor here are mostly from China. For some reason (stay overdue )they will lets go all the bonsai plants seedling at a very bargaining prices.
The above photo is my bonsai plant which I bought at only Rm30.00 for two set.
